Admissions – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Professional Spa Therapist program? The Professional Spa Therapist program is much more than just an esthetics program. What's the main difference between Elmcrest College’s program and another esthetics program? The Elmcrest College curriculum was created using real-life experience & expertise from the spa industry. Elmcrest College is owned and operated by the same company that owns and operates Elmwood Spa , Canada 's Favourite Urban Oasis and new boutique spa, elmspa, in downtown Toronto. As a result of this affiliation, Elmcrest is able to offer its students the latest techniques & developments in spa & esthetic treatments, creating graduates that are well qualified to work in day, destination or resort spas around the world. How long is the Professional Spa Therapist Program? The Professional Spa Therapist program is offered on a full-time as well as a half-day schedule. The full-time Professional Spa Therapist Diploma program is 10 months in duration. Classes are held Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The half-day Professional Spa Therapist Diploma program is 12 months in duration. Classes are held Monday to Friday either from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. depending on the start date. The half-day program enables students to maintain outside employment or other responsibilities, outside class hours, while attending the college. What is included in the Student Kit? All materials needed throughout the course are included in the Student Kit. The only additional cost is the cost of a student uniform. There is one kit for each student and it contains supplies required for in-class work, clinic and homework. To graduate from the Professional Spa Therapist program, every student must complete 245 hours of student clinic. The clinic is an integral part of the Professional Spa Therapist program. Students practice newly acquired skills (both technical & interpersonal skills) in supervised clinic sessions that begin at the end of Term One |
