How does the clinic work?

Elmcrest’s Student Clinic is integral to our massage therapy training program. After completing the massage theory and technique course, students train in one three-hour supervised clinic session per week. The student progresses from general relaxation treatments to assessment and treatment of a variety of conditions. This experience allows students to develop their clinical skills ensuring their success when they graduate. The Clinic provides students with an excellent opportunity to integrate their clinical skills with their technical and academic training, and promotes professionalism through interaction with the general public.

The Outreach program provides students with unique opportunities to work with members of the community who face physical, emotional, mental, and/or socio-economic challenges to health and wellness. Elmcrest’s Student Outreach program includes visits to residential settings, hospitals, sporting events, corporate and spa internships.  Massage Therapy students are supervised throughout each Outreach by their instructor who is also a registered massage therapist. The objective of the Outreach program is to give students an opportunity to learn how to adapt treatment plans and develop professional rapport with clients in complex environments and conditions.

To graduate from the Massage Therapist program, every student must complete 300 hours of clinic / outreach in order to gain the experience required to perform well on the CMTO exams (OSCE).

The clinic is available to the public, by appointment, Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at discounted prices.

When should I submit my application to the Massage Therapy Faculty?

As soon as possible. Applications are accepted throughout the year and processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Space is limited to 24 students per class, so early application is highly recommended.
