Student Massage Therapy Student Clinic

Elmcrest’s Student Clinic is integral to our massage therapy training program. After completing the massage theory and technique course, students train in one three-hour supervised clinic session per week. The student progresses from general relaxation treatments to assessment and treatment of a variety of conditions. This experience allows students to develop their clinical skills ensuring their success when they graduate. The Clinic provides students with an excellent opportunity to integrate their clinical skills with their technical and academic training, and promotes professionalism through interaction with the general public.

The Student Massage Therapy Clinic is open to the public, by appointment during the school year. Remedial and preventative Massage Therapy treatments are provided by intern students under the direction of a faculty member who is a Registered Massage Therapist. All services are by appointment only.

The student clinic comprises up to 3 clinic rooms with 5 treatment areas each. The student-teacher ratio in the clinic is a maximum of 10:1. Each treatment area is curtained off and equipped with a massage table, chair, stool, linen and music. In addition, thermaphores, ice packs, paraffin bath equipment and a hydroculator enabling students to apply both hot and cold hydrotherapy to clients are available if required in a treatment.
