Why do students choose to study at Elmcrest College ?
- Our graduating classes of 2000, 2001 & 2002 achieved an outstanding 100% success rate at these provincial examinations. Our pass rate for 2003 was 96% and 80% in 2004 (compared to an average of 58% for all other private and public colleges). How long is the Massage Therapy program?
- The Elmcrest College of Applied Health Sciences Massage Therapy Diploma Program involves 2300 hours of classroom and supervised clinical instruction.
- Students beginning their studies in September complete the program in 20 months.
- Students beginning their studies in January complete the program in 18 months.
What are the admission requirements and prerequisites?
- Applicants to the program should have their high school diploma with one science credit from grade 11, 12 or OAC level Biology, Chemistry, Kinesiology or Physics.
- Applicants must attend an interview with our Admissions Officer. Interviews are designed to ascertain suitability for the program and to clarify expectations.
- Applicants must complete Elmcrest's mandatory Pre-Admissions Science Course and achieve a mark of 75% or greater.
What if I don't have the requirements?
Prospective students who do not meet the minimum academic science prerequisite to enter the Massage Therapy Diploma Program can take Biology for the Health Sciences Upgrading courses on-line or at local community colleges. You should schedule an appointment to meet with our Admissions Officer to discuss your case.
When should I submit my application to the Massage Therapy Faculty?
As soon as possible. Applications are accepted throughout the year and processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Space is limited to 24 students per class, so early enrollment is highly recommended.
What are the deadlines?
There are no specific deadlines. Programs begin annually in January and September and it is advisable to apply early to ensure your space. Applications are reviewed as they are received and available spaces are assigned as students are accepted.
How many students are there in a class?
The maximum number of students in a class is 24.
Can I still apply even though I have not completed the mandatory Pre-Admissions Science Course?
Yes. The Pre-Admissions/Introduction to Massage Therapy Course must be completed prior to coming into the program, but not prior to applying. All applicants accepted into the Massage Therapy program receive a conditional acceptance pending successful completion of the course. The pass requirement is 75% or greater.
How will I be informed as to whether or not I have been accepted?
Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will be notified if you have been accepted or not into the program within one week of submitting your application.
