Transfer Student – Academic Policy

Academic Policies:

Transfer request from students from other Massage Therapy Colleges

  1. Applicants who have achieved a mark of 75% or greater in all subjects at the Massage Therapy college they are transferring from, will be considered for transfer. Applicants must meet all the pre-admissions requirements of Elmcrest College and submit an official application for review by the Education Committee. An interview will be scheduled upon receipt of application.

  2. There must be a period of no more than 12 months elapsed from the last courses completed in a Massage Therapy program. Applications must be accompanied with official transcripts from all previous academic studies.

  3. Upon review of the application, the Education Committee will outline the course(s) the applicant must challenge for exemptions. Applicants are required to challenge the final exam of each term for each course they are seeking exemption, and achieve a mark of 80% or greater. Applicants who do not achieve a mark of 80% or greater will not be exempted from the course. A fee of $75 will be charged for each theory exam challenged and $115 for a practical exam challenged.

  4. The college requires that every transfer applicant write/perform all tests and examinations on the day(s) scheduled. Applicants absent from any test will be given a mark of zero for that particular test or examination. Applicants are not permitted to write/perform their tests if they are more than 15 minutes late coming into their exam room. Missed buses, traffic jams, late trains, automobile problems, etc. are not legitimate excuses. There is no re-scheduling allowed for missed challenge exams.

  5. Applicants who have not achieved a mark of 75% or greater in all subjects at the Massage Therapy college they have previously attended will not be considered for transfer. However, they may submit an application for review to enroll at the start of a new program.

  6. Elmcrest College class sizes are limited to a maximum of 24 students. Applications from transfer students into Terms 1, 2, 3 or 4 will not be reviewed if the class is full.

  7. Students must maintain 100% course load to be eligible for OSAP. Any student awarded an exemption forfeits their eligibility to apply for OSAP.
