Sandy Gunning, CGA,
Sandy is a Certified General Accountant, born in London. Prior to joining the Elmwood Spa in 2000, Sandy worked as a financial controller in a variety of industries, both as senior management and in independent consulting roles. In addition she taught accounting and management courses for the Certified General Accountant's Association of Ontario and Ryerson University.
Sandy joined Elmcrest College in 2003, where she was responsible for developing the curriculum framework for the Spa Management program. In 2003, Elmcrest was proud to become the first educational institution offering a Spa Management/Director Diploma. This intensive program is completely dedicated to the development of the skills required to become an effective operational manager in a spa environment. From 2003 though 2005, Sandy served Elmcrest College in the role of Senior Academic Officer, and focused on building the academic team and creating an environment where a dedication to excellence in the delivery of our educational programs is a way of life for our Academic staff and instructors. In July 2005, Sandy assumed the role of Dean and is responsible for all aspects of College operations. Sandy serves on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association of Career Colleges, and chairs several committees aimed towards improving the quality of education for students attending Private Career Colleges in the Province of Ontario.
Sandy is a very strong believer in developing the potential of individuals, and respecting the individuals' right to be responsible for their own personal and professional growth. She believes that every individual has unique capabilities and that is the responsibility of effective managers to identify and use those capabilities to the benefit of the individual and the business. The College environment provides a safe place for people to explore their strengths and develop the technical and leadership skills necessary for success in whatever career they choose to have.
